THE SUBSTITUTE Jesus Christ the Saviour Died for you and me, On the top of a hill called Golgotha On a cold and wooden tree.
He was God's son in human form Sent just to spread good news, But the religious leaders of his day, Said he claimed to be king of the Jews.
So they brought him before their judges And intently questioned him, And though many people testified, They could find no fault in him.
Still the Jewish leaders responded "This man has commited a sin," "Let's robe him in purple and crown him with thorns And take him and crucify him."
And on the top of a hill called Golgotha Jesus hung upon a tree, And died for our transgressions So we could all be free.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
