Scripture
And now the prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me, but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return. (II Timothy 4:8, NLT)
Earlier this week the Miss USA pageant was on Television and Miss California, who was a finalist for the title and the crown, was asked her opinion about same-sex marriages. Because she shared that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman, it was rumored afterwards that her answer to this question may have caused her to lose the crown.
But I want Miss California to know that although she may be disappointed after coming so close to winning the coveted title and crown of Miss USA, it's okay. For another crown awaits her. For the Bible states those who seek to live for God in the world today and stand up for their beliefs will one day receive a crown of righteousness (II Timothy 4:8).
So although many people are upset over what happened with Miss California, heaven is rejoicing. And although the pageant judges may have chosen someone else to wear the crown of Miss USA because of Miss California's stance on same-sex marriages, she can take comfort in knowing that another crown awaits her from the greatest judge of all - Jesus Christ the King.
As you take a stand for the Kingdom down here on earth, may it comfort you to know that God is also preparing a crown up in heaven just for you.
Sharing the Word,
Jeaninne
