Don't Look Around, Look Within

I am pressed on every side by troubles, but I am not crushed or broken. I am perplexed, but I won't give and quit. I may fall down, but I must get up and keep going again.

II Corinthians 4:8, NLT

No matter which way I turn, trouble seems to surround me on every side. My bills are overdue. My bank accounts don't look too good, my house and car are in need of costly repairs, my credit card is maxed out and my children are in need of school items which I don't have the money to buy. When I think of everything that surrounds me today, I confess I want to give up and quit.

The apostle Paul was surrounded by trouble too. He was beaten, put in jail, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless night and went without food (2 Corinthians 6:5). But although he was surrounded by troubles, he said he wasn't going to let them crush him. Although he was bewildered about why so many bad things were happening to him, he said he wasn't going to give up and quit.

How was Paul able to keep going when surrounded by so many troubles? By looking inward to his source of strength instead of around at his problems (Ephesians 3:16). He knew that Jesus Christ was the one who could keep him from being crushed by every one of them.

Are y ou surrounded today by your troubles? Don't look around - look within. To the one who can keep you too from being crushed by every one of them.

Sharing the Word,

Jeaninne
