Scripture
Whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father. (Colossians 3: 17, NLT.)
While on vacation last summer, my daughter and I participated in a Karaoke contest. After the contest, two ladies came to me and said, "We didn't have the courage to get up and perform tonight, but thanks for representing Texas in such a fun and positive way."
I was glad to be a representative for my home state in a fun and positive way, but the ladies comments caused me to wonder, "Have I represented Jesus Christ in a positive way since I've been on vacation? Has my light shined bright enough so others could be drawn to Him? Does anyone know I am a Christian?
In his letter to the Colossian believers, Paul outlined how they should live the Christian life. He reminded them no matter where they were or what they were doing; they were always to remember they were children of God and to represent Him (Colossians 3).
I thoroughly enjoyed the Karaoke contest my daugher and I participated in during our summer vacation, but in my quest to have a good time, I realized I represented my home state better than I represented Christ. With that being the case, the next time I went on vacation I knew I needed to be a better representative for Him.
As you enjoy your summer vacation, are you remembering to represent Christ in all that you do and say?
Sharing the Word,
Jeaninne
