Daily Needs

Scripture:

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Look, I'm going to rain down food from heaven for you. The people can go out each day and pick up as much food as they need for that day.
(Exodus 16:4, NLT)

I've often wondered why God sends me a financial blessing that's just enough to meet a particular need. Although I have a number of wants I'd like to fulfill, every time I receive a financial blessing from God, it seems it's just enough to pay a pressing bill or meet an unexpected expense. It's not that I'm ungrateful for the monetary blessing, but at the same time I find myself disappointed, because the money wasn't enough to meet any of my wants, just my need.

But I realize that's how God works. For when the Israelites complained in the wilderness because they didn't have any food to eat, God heard their cry. But he told Moses although he would provide food for his people; it would only be enough for each day. There would be no leftovers.

I would like God to fulfill some of my wants. But the Bible makes it clear His job is not to provide for my wants, but my needs (Philippians 4:19). So no matter how small the financial blessing seems to me, I'm going to thank God for it, for though it may not be enough to meet my daily wants, I know it will always be enough to meet my daily needs.

Have you thanked God today for sending you just enough to meet your daily need?

Sharing the Word,

Jeaninne
